Why choose us?

Hi! I’m Samantha, the owner and founder of Lakeside Specialized Pediatric Occupational Therapy. I received my Master’s of Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University and my Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.

I have extensive experience providing exceptional care in all settings including inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinic, daycares, schools, in-home, virtually and in a therapeutic preschool and kindergarten setting. My diverse experience across various settings has equipped me with a broad understanding and deep insight into different aspects of care, allowing me to offer the most knowledgeable and adaptable solutions tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Diagnoses I have experience working with, but are not limited to, include autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing disorder (SPD), executive functioning difficulties (ADD, ADHD, anxiety), emotional regulation difficulties, developmental delays, dyslexia, and neurotypical children who need assistance reaching developmental milestones.

I am the Co-Chair of the Sensory Integration and Processing SIS for the Illinois Occupational Therapy Board, where I lead workshops educating others regarding the importance of sensory integration and processing. Additionally, I am working on receiving my Executive Functioning Micro-Credential to further my specialty with executive dysfunction.

Outside of work, I enjoy baking all sorts of desserts, doing yoga, trying new restaurants, and walking along the lake front with friends and family!

Why did you create Lakeside Specialized Pediatric Occupational Therapy?

I started Lakeside SPOT to deliver individualized services in the environment most appropriate for the child! After 3+ years as an exceptional OT at a therapeutic program in Chicago, where I quickly climbed the leadership ladder, I realized my passion was in providing the best individualized care possible for each of my clients. Generalization of skills between environments is tricky for us even as adults and I have seen success in providing services in the best fit environment for the child. It allows the therapist to collaborate with teachers, parents, caregivers, and other clinicians who have a profound impact on the development of your child. Lakeside SPOT was created to provide Top Tier services in the environment most suitable for your child to ensure carryover and comfort, as well as ease for the parent!
